About Me

Hey there, I’m Amanda!! If you’re looking for a little more about me, you’ve come to the right place! I grew up in Raleigh, NC in a family of shutterbugs. My Dad ran a camera store and my Mom took full advantage of the cameras we had around the house, snapping pictures of everything as my sister and I grew up. Some of my favorite times in my childhood and young adulthood were flipping through the boxes on boxes of family photos that my Mom collected over the years. From pictures of my Dad at 25 with a mullet and no beard, to our first snow, bundled up so much that our arms stuck out straight to the side, to our photos before prom, some of the boyfriends we brought home, and then moving vans packed with stuff. After that, I picked up the torch.

In college, I fell in love with photography and after trying to find something sensible to study, I decided that photography was what I had to do. I’ve never loved or excelled at anything more. I traveled, I photographed my friends until 3am in late-night studio sessions, I photographed every new purchase. It was a blast. After college, I moved to NYC to pursue my big city photography dreams! While I loved my time in NYC, I missed the warmth of the south. And I’m not talking about the heat! I missed the warmth of people! People have always been my favorite subjects to photograph. Every person comes with their own unique story and I love to catch those stories and freeze them in time: to create that same magic for someone else, as they travel back in time through photos of the monumental moments in their lives. This is what led me to Nashville.

In Nashville, I fell head over heels for a different kind of story: love stories. From my very first wedding, I was hooked. These were some of the most wonderful events, full of the purest love and emotion that you can find! And don’t even get me started on engagements!! Those are the first big chapter in the epics of love stories. I love helping tell these stories for you and for future generations! I watch and I listen, I catch your moments of joy and your tender moments. All to paint a full picture of such a beautiful day.

The production of these great days and the story behind them started to change the way I looked at the other photography work I was doing. I wasn’t satisfied with the “sit in front of this grey paper,” one-size-fits-all photography that I was part of. I missed the story! I missed the production! So I changed my style. When I launched my own company I focused on the story even with my business clients. I worked with them to find out what made them different, what made their products different, what made people choose them. By bringing that info to the table, we were able to create dynamic and effective advertising images that not only represented their business but told their customers why this business was special.

Bringing this all together in a nice package isn’t something most photographers do. Many have to choose the love story route or the commercial route, but if you lead with conversation and collaboration and strive for storyteller images, no matter the subject, the results will be powerful. I know it.

My Style — For Weddings!

The tone of my photography matches your wedding style! My approach to wedding photography is primarily documentary, so I will work my best to capture all the important moments and all the unexpected moments that really bring back the feelings and memories of your big day. The feel of the photography has a lot to do with what you’ve chosen to surround yourself with on that day! A spring or summer wedding by the gulf or a local barn or vineyard? That can get you some beautiful, light and airy photos as well as some stellar, vibrant, colorful images. A summer or fall wedding in an old stone church or a clearing in a dark green forest? That can get you some of those powerful, dark and moody shots and black and whites in addition to pulling out the vibrant colors of fall and summer. These settings help bring your dream feel to your wedding day and the same feel can be applied to your pictures! You just have to ask! I send out a detailed questionnaire when we start to talk about your wedding so I can put together the right package for you, as well as know the style you want for your memories of the big day. I always love to do an engagement session before the wedding as well, so that we can all get to know each other and so that I can see how the two of you like to be together! Are you two the Hollywood glamour type? Or the type who can’t stop giggling with each other? Every couple is different and every wedding dream is different. I work to bring you the best of whichever style you feel best represents you and your love.
