Scout & Dylan's Bubbly Engagement Session
Nashville Proposal Pedestrian Bridge
Planning a December engagement session is risky. It could be frigid! It could be raining! It could be a big, grey, no good, very bad day! But it could also be like Scout and Dylan’s day. It was cool and bright with a painterly sky, just touched with blue - a perfect day. We planned this engagement session around three activities: dancing like no one was watching, poppin’ bottles for our newly engaged couple, and a sweet snuggle on a blanket in the park.
Scout and I met at a networking group years ago, and when she asked me to do her engagement pictures I was absolutely thrilled! Scout is just one of those people who seems to have it all together. She knows what she wants and she knows how to get it! Before the session, we sent back and forth screenshots and inspiration photos, locations, and props! By the time we were heading to the location, we were excited and ready with all of our must-haves on a shot list! I brought my own fiancé, John, with me to help with props and reflectors. As soon as John and Dylan met, you could see their friendship brewing. They walked about 20 paces in front of Scout and me, chatting about the merits of different bourbons and the music of Johnny Cash.
We started on the Cumberland Pedestrian Bridge (paying no mind to the other pedestrians moseying through), and Scout and Dylan showed us their kickin’ dancing skills! In my career, I have spent no short amount of time researching “the dip” in order to help my couples create some dancing moments, but Scout and Dylan needed no help! They had these dances down pat! Including a killer dip. They laughed and spun and just beamed the brilliant history and love between them.
From there, we wandered around the park, found ourselves a nice spot for a picnic, and set out our blanket! After a nice snuggle and some sweet laughs, it was time to break out the champagne! Dylan brought two bottles, just in case, but we didn’t need the second one as the first cork popped and we got some fantastic shots of the spray. Dylan poured glasses all around; they even brought glasses for John and me!
As we celebrated our shoot with our glass of champagne, it started to get dark, and I had one more location on my list. We packed up our things and headed to Opryland! We quickly popped into the Christmas light display and snapped just a few Christmassy pictures to top off this wonderful fun session. As we walked back to our cars, it juuuust started to rain, punctuating the end of our session. John and Dylan exchanged numbers, and we all made plans for a bourbon and a hang sometime soon! See you at the wedding, Scout and Dylan!
